There are few ways better to see Victoria Falls than out in the open air on a microlight. Flights are 15 or 30 minutes and despite being quite short, they are very exciting. You’ll be collected from your hotel and taken to Batokaland where you get a safety talk and depending on the season, a flying suit. No cameras can be taken for safety reasons, however the microlights are well set up to capture images of you flying over Victoria Falls.

A Spectacular Birds Eye View of Victoria Falls

This is one of the most popular activities to do whilst in Livingstone, Zambia after a whitewater rafting trip on the Zambezi River. And for good reason. Although the activity is short, you do literally get a wonderful birds eye view of one of the Seven Natural Wonders Of The World. The best time to take your flight, is first thing in the morning, or later in the day to watch the sunset. As sampled by Jack Osbourne and Elijah Wood make a microlight flight your priority when visiting Livingstone. Not your idea of flying? Then check our other options from Bungy Jumping to helicopter flights.

The real beauty of the Batoka Gorge, where the Zambezi River flows, is taking part in a multiday trip. With many rafts taking part in a day trip down the Zambezi River, if getting “away from it all” is your priority, the Zambezi has the best multi-day options in the world.

Kayaking has generally only been for those with loads of experience, especially on rivers such as the Zambezi. However, Kayak The Zambezi has recently launched inflatable kayaking trips on the Zambezi River from rapid 11-25. The day trip is a half kayak school, half adrenaline rush. Described by our clients as “far more fun that rafting” it is the latest activity to take Livingstone by storm. No previous kayaking experience is necessary although a good sense of adventure and an ability to swim are necessary.

Running Rapid 11

The guides are some of the most qualified in the world and with a ratio of just 4 clients to one guide clients receive plenty of attention and care. Not only will you sample this wonderful new sport, but you will have time to enjoy lunch and look around at some of the amazing birdlife in this area. Some of the rapid highlights are running The Mother, rapid 13 and of course the world famous Oblivion!

Instruction by your guide

At the end of the day you’ll be whisked out of the gorge with a gondola and transported back to town ready to tell all about your adventures. So why not Kayak The Zambezi? Go on, give it a try!

A little later than most years, the Zambezi River is now open from Rapid Number 1. The Zambezi is a river which is at its best for whitewater rafters and kayakers when it is at it’s lowest. The river will now drop until late October, early November when the rains start and the river starts to gradually rise. The weather is perfect for rafting at the moment being around 30-35 degrees centrigrade, so with a warm river and cloudless days make rafting the Zambezi a perfect way to cool down!

Tyler and team running 16B

If rafting isn’t your thing why not take one of Livingstone’s classic adventure activities such as the Gorge Swing, Bungy, Microlight or helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, or take a relaxing swim at Livingstone Island in the Angels Armchair. Livingstone is Africa’s adventure capitol with not only great activities, but excellent places to stay in Livingstone and fantastic cuisine.

Plan and book your adventure online with Livingstone’s adventure professionals.
