A first for Zambia – Walk and Interact in the bush with these most magnificent, endangered species - the Cheetah! Own this rare experience forever! The Mukuni Research Centre has an ongoing program for conserving and breeding the threatened Cheetah, through education and understanding of this amazing animal. We have 3 trips departing per day and your transfers are included from your hotel or backpackers. For many of our guests, this is the highlight of their trip to Livingstone.

What You Will Be Up To!
  • Your Cheetah Encounter

You'll be collected from your lodge or backpackers in Livingstone (see below for times) and taken to our facility approximately 12 km from Livingstone.

It is our intention to conserve these highly endangered, beautiful and amazing animals for future generations. Cheetahs that are released into management areas will have the opportunity to breed without human interference and they will raise their own cubs till they are old enough to be safely relocated into suitable habitats. In the mean time, Cheetahs in our Breeding Centers are raised by our handlers until they become sexually mature in order to breed. Research is conducted  by our volunteers to gain accurate knowledge about the Cheetahs. This research in turn will assist us with the pairing for breeding and character assessment, ensuring they won’t be harmed when released into habitats occupied or was once occupied by other Cheetahs. Cheetahs in our breeding center will have the chance to hone their hunting skills using our Cheetah Run Facility. The Cheetah Run Pulley System runs a lure along a zip line and the Cheetah’s chase this, keeping them fit, sharpens their hunting skills and will benefit them immensely when they stalk and chase their quarry in the wild.

You will walk with these magnificent animals. For many of our guests, this is one of the highlights of their trip to Livingstone. Put it on top of your list. On the conclusion ofr your trip you will be dropped back at your accommodation.
