Rafting on the Zambezi River is at it's very best in the "low water" season from early August - December. Outside these times, a great option exists to get out on the river for a high water run from Rapid 11 (or rapid 14). As with all rivers, rapids can get bigger or smaller depending on the water level. This is certainly true on the Zambezi, with the normally fairly straight forward rapids 15-18, in high water, this section is brilliant fun with big waves challenging you the entire way. Morning shower rapid 23 will also give you a great challenge before you get to the gondola and your lift out of the gorge and your lift back to town.
Your High Water Rafting Trip
We'll collect you from your hotel or lodge at 7:30 and drive you to the river. At the top of the gorge above Rapid 10, you'll get a full safety briefing from the guides and collect your personal flotation devices, helmet and paddle and walk down the African style ladders into the river. Here we'll practice paddling techniques before taking to the river. We paddle the legendary tubing wave at rapid 11 first before heading down into the Three Ugly Sisters and The Mother. We'll float down through a few smaller rapids until we reach The Washing Machine, Terminator and Double Trouble, which all roll into one long fun filled rapid. We get a few more fun rapids before we reach Rapid 23, our final big rapid of the day. We get to the cable car at rapid 25 and you'll be transported out of the gorge and back into town having experienced a great day on the mighty Zambezi.
