If you want to get off the beaten tourist track and explore the Zambezi River, we can highly recommend this trip. As well as experiencing all the best rapids on offer during a day trip, this trip offers you time and relaxation to swim beneath Victoria Falls on your first day. On your third day on the river you'll get to experience some of the best rapids on the Zambezi, such as Open Season and Upper Moemba. In addition, you'll get to camp out on gorgeous beaches, sampling wonderful food and having a chat to your fellow travellers around the campfire, beer or wine in hand. You'll be back in Livingstone by lunchtime on day 4 of the trip. Enjoy the Zambezi Explorer as it is meant to be... in style.
You'll be collected from your hotel or lodge prior to 8am. You'll be sent a list on booking and the guides will provide you with a drybag to put your clothes in. We suggest leaving your excess clothing at the hotel to collect after your river trip. We'll take you down to the Boiling Pot where we give you a full safety briefing and paddle instructions and you'll meet your experienced guide team. Today, we get to run world class rapids such as Stairway to Heaven, Gullivers Travels and Creamy White Buttocks. We'll have a floating lunch or stop on the side of the river in the shade. The afternoon sees more awesome rapids such as The Mother and Oblivion. Upon reaching camp, the guide team will pass out tents and thermorests and they'll soon have snacks and sundowners on the go. Enjoy a sumptuous barbeque on the river bank accompanied by a cold beer or glass of wine. Let the river lull you to sleep.
Included: Lunch and dinner
If you thought yesterday was awesome, wait until today. Before we start on the great rapids, you'll wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee or a cup of tea and breakfast before we load the rafts and set off down this stunning part of the river. Just after we leave camp, you'll get a wake up call in Morning Shower! Before long we reach Open Season, a large but fun rapid we reach mid morning. After here we are into the Narrows and we find a stunning spot to stop and have lunch. After more excellent rapids, we reach the 2 biggest rapids of the trip so far, Chamamba and the final rapid of the day, Upper Moemba. Upon reaching camp between Upper and Lower Moemba, we enjoy wine and cheese in possibly one of the most spectacular places on earth, overlooking an amazing waterfall.
Included: All meals
This morning we just paddle across the river after breakfast and take the hike out of the gorge to our waiting vehicle (complete with cold soft drinks and beers) and we drive back to Livingstone. It is a great idea to bring a little cash for this part of the trip, as there are some amazing souvenir shops to buy carvings from and you'll be buying them from the person who makes them! We'll have you back to your hotel around lunchtime.
Included: Breakfast & lunch
On groups over 6 guests, we can arrange a spectacular helicopter flight from Moemba Falls back to Livingstone via Victoria Falls. There will be an additional cost of USD$420 per person (min 6). You will then be transferred back to your hotel. It is a wonderful way to conclude your trip.
